The Ellicott City Senior Center is one of the host sites for senior citizens in need of free tax preparation help.
The American Association of Retired Persons and the Internal Revenue Service are currently offering free personal income tax preparation for Howard County residents at senior centers throughout the county.
Tax Aide services, including electronic filing, will be provided at no charge to middle- and low-income Howard County taxpayers, with special emphasis on those age 60 and older.
Now in its 35th year in Howard County, Tax Aide is staffed by volunteer preparers who receive IRS-approved training and certification in tax preparation. Appointments must be scheduled in advance.

Calling all artists! Drop-in portrait sessions are now available at the Howard County Center for the Arts in Ellicott City. The sessions consist of a single pose with the same model over multiple weeks for detailed figure-study work.
Portrait Model Sessions have a live, clothed or costumed model and meet on Tuesdays from 11a.m. to 2 p.m until mid-June. The cost per session is $10 or $42 for six sessions.
Figure Model Sessions have a live, nude model and meet on Tuesdays, 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., year-round. The cost per session is $12 or $60 for six sessions. Payment is due at the first session.

Mo Dutterer, former Centennial High school theater director and Silhouette Stages president, is holding auditions for Silhouette Stage's production of "The Full Monty" Friday, Feb. 22, at 6 p.m., and Sat., Feb. 23, at 1 p.m,. at Slayton House Theater.

Looking for a summer leadership camp for girls? Applications are now being accepted for Journey 2013, the Women's Giving Circle of Howard County's week long residential summer camp, from Sunday, July 14, through Saturday, July 20, at Washington College in Chestertown.
"This is a wonderful summer opportunity for girls to build and strengthen their leadership skills", said Ellicott City resident Barb Van Winkle, who serves as a Women's Giving Circle Advisory board member.
Operated by Maryland Leadership Workshops, the Journey 2013 camp is tailored to meet the needs and experiences of girls in middle and high school. The camp will consist of 25 girls, entering 8th and 9th grades, who are residents of Howard County.
