Howard County's only professional orchestra, Howard County Concert Orchestra, will perform a Spanish New Year's Celebration, Sunday, Jan. 12, from 4 to 6 p.m., at Ellicott's City's St. John's Episcopal Church.
Enjoy the music of great Spanish composers including Sarasate, Turina, DeFalla, Albeniz, Rodrigro and Granados. Master of Ceremonies Dick Story will lead the audience through this exciting performance that features Howard County Ballet's Voice of Howard County dancers in authentic costume directed by Kathi Ferguson and a special video presentation The Best of Spain!. Tickets are $25 (adults), $12 (students ages 18-24 with ID) and free for kids ages 17 and under accompanied by an adult. Ticket holders are eligible to win two door prizes. Calling all thespians. Howard County Summer Theater is hosting auditions for its 2014 production of "Les Miserables," Saturday, Jan. 4, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Monday, Jan. 6, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Mt. Hebron High School. All parts are open. This is a departure from HCST's normal April auditions.
