If kids are curious about it and it's on wheels, it was probably there at Wheely Fun Day on Friday, March 21.

For the third year, Clarlen Nursery Inc. has sponsored the event in the parking lot of Bethany United Methodist Church in Ellicott City, where the nursery is located. It is intended as a community outreach day that invites children and adults to get up close and personal with all manner of vehicles.

What child is not curious about fire trucks, limousines, excavators, ice cream trucks and front-end loaders? They were all there awaiting inspection.

"We really wanted the community to enjoy this," said Helen Moody, director of the nursery.

New attractions included a smart car, a mail truck and a Segway, she said.

One of the most popular lures was a truck trailer filled with video games that the youngsters could play.

Moody said showers dampened the crowd a bit, but she fully expects to hold the event next year.
