'Tell HoCo' app adds lost pet reporting option

Howard County residents can now report lost pets with a phone app

Howard County residents can now report a missing pet via "Tell HoCo," a mobile app and website launched last year.

Howard County Executive Allan Kittleman announced Thursday that the app, which citizens can use to alert government officials to non-emergency issues such as potholes, fallen tree limbs, graffiti and traffic signal outages, has a new tab that collects information about lost pets.

"Many people consider their pets a part of the family, so when a pet goes missing, it can be devastating," Kittleman said in a statement. "With this new feature added to 'Tell HoCo,' families can share details about their missing pet, so if the animal is found, reuniting the family and pet will be much easier."

The app is available for a free download in the Apple and Google Play stores, and online at http://www.howardcountymd.gov/iframetemplate.aspx?id=6442474544.

Since its launch in September 2014, the app has been downloaded 1,800 times and used to report almost 5,400 issues, according to the county.
