In the early morning hours of Sunday, Oct. 27, four Special Olympics Howard County athletes competed in the Marine Corps 10K (6.2 miles). The athletes — Thomas Logue (17), Julian Than (18), and twins Mark and Bruce Worley (27) — were the guests of Special Olympics Virginia.
The Marines escorted the athletes to the starting line and cheered them on along with a field of over 7,500 runners. The chill of the morning encouraged fast times. Thomas Logue ran with his dad, Tom, and Julian Than ran with his mother, Maria. The twins, Mark and Bruce, competed as individuals.
Unified Division 1: 1. Thomas and Tom Logue, 44:04.
Unified Division 4: 1. Julian and Maria Than, 49:34.
