Brian Shadrick wins Centennial Fun Run

Brian Shadrick, for the first time this summer, won the Centennial Fun Run. His time for the one-mile race on Aug. 5 was five minutes and 11 seconds. Tracy Ringel led the women with a time of 7:02. Overall, there were over 100 individuals that participated in the event that is run in the Centennial neighborhood.

The Centennial Fun run ended the summer season on Aug. 12 with a Partners' Relay, Award Ceremony and Pizza Party. The results from all the runs from this summer are on striders.net.

Tennis

The annual Mayotte Academy clay court Dirtballer Most Improved Player Awards sponsored by Dunkin Donuts will be announced at a meeting and ceremony at the Hobbits Glen Clay Tennis courts on Sept. 23 at 1 p.m.

The clay court dirtballers team, consisting of about 10 local players from Columbia, meets and practices their clay court strategies through a series of drills each week. Several team members have claimed It's a great way to stay in shape, have some fun and remain tournament tough, too

Members of the tennis community are invited to play and attend regardless of their age or level.
