“I told the girls before the game that a home run wasn’t going to win this one, it was going to be who could keep from making mistakes,” Struhar said. “When we match-up against Howard, that’s what it seems to come down to ... one little play can make all the difference.”
Paugh did her best to get her team back in it in the top of the seventh, leading off with a triple off the fence in right. But again Buehlman was seemingly unfazed, striking out the next batter and then getting a pop-out bunt to the pitcher and a grounder to Cadigan at second base to seal the win.

River Hill 5, Reservoir 4
The Hawks (16-4) found themselves down early, surrendering three runs in the top of the second, but hung tough and got a big inning of their own in the fifth to earn a come-from-behind victory over the Gators.
River Hill ended up scoring four times in that fifth inning, all with two outs. The Hawks got big hits from Kinsey Johnson and Kristy Selby (2 RBI single), but also capitalized on three Reservoir errors in the frame.
Down by one, Reservoir mounted one final comeback try in the seventh inning. Sophia Sommercamp singled, Caroline Winand reached on an error and Emily Wang singled to load the bases with one out. But Selby, River Hill’s pitcher, induced a ground out to third that produced a game-ending double play — with the Hawks forcing out the runner going home and then getting the runner out at second base.
Reservoir had gotten started in the second inning thanks to a double by Hannah Pinion and an RBI single by Anna Bennett. An error put two Reservoir runners on base and then a ground out and a SAC fly scored both of them.
River Hill scored its first run in the third on an RBI single by Kallan Dirmeyer, driving in Johnson, while Reservoir added its fourth run in the top of the fifth courtesy of a RBI single by Winand to score Monica Lamm (double).
Emily Wang pitched for Reservoir, striking out four and walking just one.
Both teams finished with 10 hits and three errors. Lamm was 3-4 at the plate for the Gators, while Meg Sterling, Johnson and Dirmeyer each had two hits for the Hawks.
River Hill will host Mt. Hebron Saturday at 2 p.m. for the regional championship.
