South River tournament
Mia Astran scored Glenelg’s only goal in a 3-1 loss to South River in the South River championship game.
South River scored all three of its goals within a span of five minutes.
“We dominated the first 5 minutes without finishing,” said Glenelg coach Ginger Kincaid.
South River scored on a fast break and Glenelg panicked.
“We could not settle even with a time out,” Kincaid said. “In that five minutes of panic, they scored three unsettled goals.”
Astran put her team on the scoreboard early in the second half.
Glenelg beat Bryn Mawr, 3-0, in its first game of the tournament. Lauren Pelkey, Morgan Philie and Megan Taylor had the goals; Stephanie Asher had an assist.
Goalies Amanda Hoyt and Noelle Frost split time in both games.
Mount de Sales won the Centennial tournament, 6-1, over Towson.
Towson reached the championship game with an overtime win over Centennial. After playing to a 3-3 standstill, that game was decided by strokes.
In the overtime strokes, Margaret Maclean scored for Centennial, while Maddie Tribbe, Maeve Lunch and Allison Lynch converted for Towson.
A pair of goals by Margaret Maclean helped Centennial win the consolation game, 3-1, over Franklin.
