Glenelg Country 6, Annapolis Area Christian 0
It’s been nearly two weeks since the Glenelg Country School team has taken the field for a real game. The tournament the Dragons were supposed to play in was cancelled and last week’s game against Seton Keough was postponed due to weather.
The long layoff didn’t hurt the Dragons’ offense, however.
Tessa More knocked in a loose all near the cage to start what became a 6-0 shutout.
Glenelg Country dominated the game in offensive opportunities. The Dragons outshot AACS, 37-2, and had a 17-2 advantage on offensive penalty corners.
More had three goals in the game. Lauren Smith, Julia Sheehan and Gabi Hernandez also scored. It was the first varsity goal for both Sheehan and Hernandez.
The Glenelg County defense, led by seniors Mallory Pappas and Gillie Lynch as well as freshman Tokunbo Olanyian, left little for keeper Kelly Johnson (two saves) to do.
Goals: GCS – Tessa More 3, Lauren Smith, Julia Sheehan, Gabi Hernandez. AACS – none.
Assists: GCS – Lauren Smith, Marissa Burks, Hannah Veater.
Saves: GCS – Kelly Johnson 2. AACS – Durk 31.
