Sophomore defender Matt Baxter shadowed the county’s leading scorer, Mt. Hebron’s Jake Stevens, all over the field and helped slow down the scoring machine. Stevens finished with a goal and two assists, all coming in the fourth quarter.

“We knew they could score. We watched film and studied it,” Marshall said. “As a defensive unit, we knew what we had to do to stop them and we executed. ‘Pags’ dominated the X. We couldn’t have won this game without him.”

Adam Huber and Robby Mazzuca scored a pair of goals for the the Vikings, who now fall back into a three-way tie with Centennial and Howard as one loss teams in the county.

“They are good. We knew that we were going to have to take it from them because they weren’t going to give us anything,” McCarthy said. “They proved it.”
