The death of Howard County blogger and real estate executive Dennis Lane has left a void in the community that may never be fully appreciated.
To family, friends and those who knew him only through his blog, "Tales of Two Cities," Lane was a man full of life who loved Howard County and the people who live there. He was the "Godfather of HoCo blogs," as one fellow blogger called him this week, and he was a must-read for those who valued his take on local news.
His roots in the community were deep and his skill in telling (and finding) a good story were hard to match. To those of us in the "established media," he was a great competitor who, sometimes to our chagrin, beat us to stories.
In the short term, we will likely focus on the tragedy of his death. But we will never forget his his joy for life and his love of the community and of local journalism.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
