Catonsville man arrested in Ellicott City bank robbery

A Catonsville man was arrested Thursday and charged with robbing an Ellicott City bank in June, Howard County police announced Friday.

Ryan Lee Cummings, 30, of Catonsville, has been charged with armed robbery, robbery, first- and second-degree assault and theft in connection with a June 9 robbery of a SunTrust Bank in Ellicott City, police said.

He is being held at Howard County Detention Center on $150,000 bond.

Police said Cummings was implicated in the robbery after the department circulated surveillance photos from the robbery.

Police said he entered the bank in the 10000 block of Baltimore National Pike at approximately 5 p.m., gave the teller a note demanding money, took the money and the fled. No one was injured, police said.

Police said detectives are looking into other local bank robberies to determine if he may be connected.
