Centennial boys lacrosse continued its blazing start to the season Thursday, traveling to Long Reach for a 11-2 victory.
Andrew Gavlin (5), Quinn Western (3) and Mike Moore (2) all had big performances for the Eagles (2-0). Andy Belush and Skylar Briscoe each scored for the Lightning (0-2).
The game – which was originally scheduled for Tuesday – had been moved up to a 4 p.m. start in a last-minute change, forcing both teams to adjust.
“For us, it’s all about blocking out those distractions and playing the way we are capable of playing," said Centennial coach Nick Kellinger, whose Eagles defeated Glenelg in Monday’s season-opener.
Though the Eagles cruised in Thursday's win, Kellinger said he wanted to see more out of some of his guys, adding that he “wasn’t really happy” with the way the team played overall.
“We take every game as an opportunity to get better, and that’s our goal,” he said. “We know we still have a long way to go.”
