In volleyball, the kill is often the most celebrated skill. But the serve, which sets the action into play on every single point, may be even more important.

Glenelg’s sister combination of Sarah and Rachael Girard finished among the area’s best at the service line last fall, with both being named to the first-team all-county squad.

Sarah finished the year serving over 93 percent with 61 aces, while Rachael served over 90 percent with 62 aces.

With the season approaching, the two met up with volleyball reporter Andrew Conrad to discuss some of their techniques and strategies when it comes to serving.
