The Howard County Public School System is implementing a new Preschool for All program, in partnership with the Children’s Learning Center at Howard Community College.

The new program will support expanded access to low-cost, high-quality preschool education, to help children reach 10 “quality benchmarks” set by the Maryland State Department of Education, according to a release from the school system.

“The vision at both the state and county levels is to provide preschool services for all four-year-olds,” Lisa Davis, HCPSS Coordinator of the Office of Early Childhood Programs, said in a release. “We are pleased to partner with the Children’s Learning Center at Howard Community College because it expands the number of children being served by a high-quality program.”

The partnership and program is funding by the Judith P. Hoyer Early Child Care and Education Enhancement Grant for Preschool Services. According to the system, the program includes parent workshops to support school readiness, access to extended day care for eligible participants and vision and hearing screening for four-year-olds, in coordination with the Howard County Health Department.
