Virginia woman arrested in Howard County scam

Blackmail and Extortion

Howard County police have charged a 21-year-old Virginia woman with running a door-to-door solicitation scam in Ellicott City this month.

Tabitha Nicole Sisk, 21, of Gladstone, Va., is accused of extortion, drug possession and making a false statement to police. Police say additional charges are pending against two more suspects believed to be involved in the scam. Police said the incident occurred in the 3400 block of Tyler Drive.

A police investigation revealed that Sisk and the two unnamed suspects were extorting money from an unidentified victim, officers said. The suspects approached the victim's home and offered yard and home improvement services for an excessive fee, according to police. The victim paid up front, but the services were never completed in a satisfactory manner, police said.

Sisk has a court date scheduled for September.
