From the University of Maryland Extension in Howard County: As local produce comes into season, many people are looking for ways to preserve seasonal fruits and vegetables. The University of Maryland Extension, Howard County, will present a series of seven workshops focusing on the methods and best practices for preserving our local bounty.
The first Grow It, Eat It, Preserve It workshop will be Wednesday, July 9, from 10 a.m. to noon. This session will be discussing types of foods and techniques in pressure canning. This is not a hands-on workshop.
Whether you are an experienced canner who has preserved food for years or a novice wanting to learn more about home food preservation these workshops are designed for you. The workshop is open to anyone who would like to learn more about food preservation.
