Although it doesn't feel like it, the buds are on the maple trees and the first leaves of spring are just waiting to unfurl their lovely green among us. But the tunes of Mother Nature aren't the only harbingers of spring, as Elkridge community members are gearing up for an action-packed season and would like to invite you to join them in some long-awaited spring and summer fun.
Don't forget to tune-up your bike before you hit the trails this spring! CrossLife Community Church is offering a free bike tune-up this April 12 during the Green Valley Yard Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the market lot at 7280 Montgomery Road.
They will offer brake and gear adjustments, fixing flats, chain lube, brake pad replacement, bike safety information and safety check, as well as accepting bike donations in conjunction with the Hub Bike Shop of Catonsville. For more information, call 410-960-6301 or go online to http://www.CrossLifeOnline.com
Watermont Swim Club, home of the Bullfrogs, a Division One Swim Team, is currently accepting applications for membership. As the number of memberships available is limited, Watermont encourages you to get your family registered early.
The club, at 5819 Bellanca Drive, in Elkridge, is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day and offers a safe and fun environment for families to enjoy the outdoors in a pool atmosphere. You can check them out at watermontswim.org or to find out more about pricing and memberships you can contact Michael at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Additionally, The Divas Ladies' 18-hole Golf League will be starting its new season Thursday, April 3, at 9 a.m. The league is open to gals at least 18 years old, with an established handicap. Maggie Gochal is the diva in charge.
Take it from Nancy Grabowski, "The Timbers at Troy gives us a great deal on greens fees, and wonderful prizes every week. If you would like to join us, email email@example.com. We are always looking for new members."
I would also encourage you to check out the season's offerings from Howard County Recreation and Parks. They have been working hard all year to ensure that their sports, adventure, environmental and arts programming are sure to be enjoyed by the community. You can find more information by clicking on http://www.howardcountymd.gov/Departments.aspx?id=6442458709.
Also, don't forget to check out what the Howard County Public Library System has to offer. Voted Library of the Year in 2013, the HCPL system has remodeled itself, opened its doors to new products and technologies and continues to provide excellent programs for both children and adults at all of its locations.
