Police report pair of west Columbia residential burglaries

Two homes in the same west Columbia neighborhood reported residential burglaries within hours of each other on Monday, according to police.

In both incidents, burglars ransacked the master bedrooms, police said.

Police said the first incident occurred between 7 a.m. and 1:45 p.m.  in the 10200 block of Clarksville Pike. Police said an unknown suspect gained entry to the residence by kicking in the front door.

Once inside, the suspect ransacked the master bedroom and stole jewelry, police said.

In the second incident, which occurred between 12:10 p.m. and 12:50 p.m. on Monday, nothing was reported missing.

Police said the burglars gained entry to the residence through an unlocked screen door before ransacking the master bedroom.

The two homes are located less than a mile apart.
