Columbia's Turner planning on another term for now

Del. Frank Turner, a Columbia Democrat who has represented District 13 in the House since 1995, could be a potential Senate candidate in 2014.

Turner said he will consider the Senate seat left vacant by Sen. Jim Robey's 2014 retirement, but added it would be hard to leave the House committee positions he now holds, including serving as vice chair on the Ways and Means committee.

"I don't think there's any rush to make a decision right now," he said.

A delegate for 19 years, Turner said he has "no plans not to run in 2014," but wants to keep all of his options open.

He added that it's important that some members of the delegation return to ensure the county is not represented by all freshmen legislators.
