Howard County Police are advising motorists to avoid the area around Merriweather Post Pavilion on Saturday as a crowd of 30,000 is expected to descend on the Columbia music venue for Virgin Mobile FreeFest.

Starting at 10 a.m. and ending at midnight, police will be directing traffic on Little Patuxent Parkway, Broken Land Parkway, South Entrance Road, and Hickory Ridge Road.

Police are also expecting delays on Route 29.

The part of Little Patuxent Parkway from Broken Land Parkway to South Entrance Road will be closed for the duration of the music festival.

Police said there will be full access to Town Center businesses, including the Mall in Columbia and Toby's Dinner Theatre.

Non-concert motorists are encouraged to use the Route 175 exit off Route 29 to access Town Center.
