A 62-year-old man was killed Monday evening after the 2003 Toyota Tacoma he was driving on Route 29 overturned, according to Howard County police.
Michael Joseph Fitzpatrick, 62, of Silver Spring, was traveling southbound on the highway at 7 p.m. near Old Columbia Road when his vehicle went off the right side of the road and overturned, according to police.
Fitzpatrick was pronounced dead at the scene by the Howard County Department of Fire & Rescue Services.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Fitzpatrick was not wearing a seatbelt and that speed was a factor, police said.
The collision is being investigated by the Traffic Enforcement Section.
