Howard schools health council holds general meeting

The Howard County School Health Council is holding a general meeting Wednesday, Nov. 13, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Ascend One Building in Columbia.

HCSHC is a state-mandate advisory council made up of representatives from the Howard County Public School System, the Howard County Health Department, the PTA Council of Howard County and other community groups.

The council reports to the county health officer and the schools’ superintendent. General meetings are held every other month for members to review various health, safety and wellness programs and provide input and recommendations.

On Nov. 13, HCSHC will hear a presentation from Anthony Newman, Baltimore partnerships coordinator with Move This World, a global nonprofit founded by a Howard County native dedicated to creating positive social change. Move This World uses creative movement as a way to transform conflict and combat violence and bullying.

The meeting is open the public. For more information, contact HCSHC Chairwoman Anne Markus at 202-994-4139, or at armarkus@gwu.edu.
