Howard police to conduct sobriety checkpoint this weekend

Howard County Police have announced plans to conduct a sobriety checkpoint this weekend, according to a news release.

The checkpoint is one of several county police will conduct throughout the year as part of the agency's traffic safety initiative, which aims to keep county roads safe.

In 2012, police arrested 1,174 individuals for driving under the influence, according to the release. Thirty percent of all fatal collissions in Howard County in 2012 were alcohol-related, police said.
