Howard County Police are investigating a series of street robberies in Long Reach this month that they believe have been committed by the same band of men.

The three incidents, which occurred in the area of the village center and Long Reach High School, report victims being assaulted and robbed by a group of seven to 10 men at about 11 p.m.

The first incident occurred on July 6, when two victims were assaulted and robbed while walking across a parking lot on Old Dobbin Lane near Long Reach High School.

According to police, the two were encircled by a group of eight to 10 men, one of whom was on a BMX bicycle. One of the men punched one of the victims, leading the victims to flee and the men to pursue.

As they were fleeing, one of the men tripped, police said. The fallen man was punched and robbed of his wallet, police said.

On July 7, a man approached a police officer and said he was robbed by eight to 10 men while on a mountain bike, police said. The man said he was assaulted and robbed of his wallet, cell phone and bike at 11 p.m. while on Old Dobbin Lane.

At 11:45 p.m. on July 10, police reported a man was robbed at knife point by seven men in the 8700 block of Cloudleap Court, the address of the Long Reach Village Center. The village center is located approximately 1,000 feet from Old Dobbin Lane.

A police spokesperson said police believe the crimes are linked, and that they have increased patrols.
