Howard County wrestling season recap

The 2014 wrestling season will go down as one of the best in the history of Howard County.

The county tornament at River Hill in February saw four wrestlers join the three-time county champion club: Reservoir's Mason KIlcarr (132), Wilde Lake's Malik Jackson (152), and River Hill's Logan KIrby (195) and Cory Daniel (220).

River Hill was the dominant team this year, winning county and regional dual meet and tournament titles.

Oakland MIlls, led by county champion Jaron Smith (160), upset state dual meet champion Kent Island to win the regional tournament as well.

Finally, at Cole Field House in early March, Howard set a new record by crowning seven state champions: Kilcarr, Kirby, Daniel, Smith, River Hill senior Michael Beck (120), Centennial sophomore Austin Kraisser (145) and Howard senior Jared Rodriguez (182).
