Howard police officers recognized as traffic safety specialists

Eight Howard County Police officers were recognized as traffic safety specialists by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions at a ceremony in Annapolis.

The officers were recognized on Sept. 7, along with others from around the state, as traffic safety specialists for exceptional levels of training, experience, and proficiency in highway safety and traffic enforcement.

The eight Howard County recipients are: Sgt. Peter R. Moskala, Pfc. Nicholas Bingham, Pfc. Joseph Gallina, Pfc. Stuart Allen Hammond, Pfc. Brandon J. Stickles, Pfc. Jay Weber, Pfc. Neil White, and Police Officer John Byer.

"Clearly these award recipients epitomize the spirit of the program," said Thomas J. Gianni, Chief of the Maryland Highway Safety Office, in a news release. "Effective traffic enforcement translates to fewer crashes, fewer injuries, and fewer deaths on our roadways. Traffic safety is public safety and we congratulate the officers on their very distinguished achievement."
