Howard County police are investigating the shooting of a fast food restaurant manager outside his store in Columbia early Sunday morning.
According to police, the man, whose name has not been released, was outside the store he manages - the Taco Bell restaurant on the 7100 block of Minstrel Way in Columbia - when he was confronted by two unknown men.
The two men then began shooting at the manager, hitting him several times, according to police. The victim was able to make it back into the store, where two other employees called 911.
Police responded to the restaurant at approximately 12:50 a.m., and the victim was flown by Medivac to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. As of Monday afternoon, the victim was still listed in critical condition, police said.
Police said they have no motive for the shooting at this time.
A Taco Bell spokesman released the following statement on Monday evening:
"This was a completely senseless crime that has shocked us all. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim and his family as he fights to recover. Our franchisee has fully cooperated with the police and encourages members of the community to come forward with any details that will help catch these thugs."
