A Columbia teen faces robbery and assault charges stemming from two incidents during which Howard County police say he took a teen's bike and shot another teen in the eye with a BB gun.

The 15-year-old was not identified by police.

The first incident occurred at 3:45 p.m. on Dec. 17, according to police. Police said two male teens, one 15 and the other 16, were on bicycles near Oakland Mills Road and Procopio Circle when they were approached by two juvenile males.

One of the alleged assaliants pulled out what appeared to be a handgun and demanded the bikes the victims were on, police said. The assaliants took the bikes and rode away on them, according to police.

About a half-hour later, police were called about an alleged BB gun shooting in the 7500 block of Monarch Mills Way, near the robbery location. A 16-year-old boy, from Columbia, told police he was approached by two juvenile males. The victim said he was shot in the eye with a BB gun by one of the males, according to police.

No update on the boy's condition was available Thursday.

Nothing was stolen, and the victim was taken to the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Center, police said.

Through investigation, police identified one juvenile believed to be a suspect in both incidents. He was arrested and charged. Police said they are continuing to pursue the second suspect.
