Man charged in peeping tom incidents in Columbia mall bathrooms

Howard County police have charged a Windsor Mill man in connection with a series of peeping tom incidents that police say occurred inside a men's bathroom at the Columbia mall, police said Wednesday.

Marc Scott Dawson, 48, of Cross Trails Road, has been charged with multiple counts of visual surveillance with prurient intent and peeping tom.

Dawson was charged after police were contacted earlier this month by mall security, who reported a man was  following young men into the public restroom and made efforts to look at their genitals, police said.

Police said mall surveillance footage revealed the man, who police believe is Dawson, entered the bathroom 31 times in a two-hour period.

A few days later, police surveilled Dawson and saw that he was conducting similar activity at Security Square Mall in Woodlawn and a Home Depot in Catonsville. In one case at Home Depot police believe Dawson spied on a juvenile.

He was arrested on Aug. 20 and has been released from the Howard County Detention Center on $15,000 bail. He also faces charges in Baltimore County.

Police said anyone with additional information on this case should call 410-313-STOP.
