Howard Co. Health Dept. closes Lucky's in Columbia

Lucky's China Inn restaurant in the Oakland Mills Village Center in Columbia has been closed by the Howard County Health Department after a fire last week, county officials announced Monday.

According to Jackie Kotei, spokeswoman for the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services, the small fire occurred in the kitchen shortly after 1 p.m. on July 9. She said the fire did not affect neighboring businesses, but damaged Lucky's exhaust and duct system.

Lisa de Hernandez, spokeswoman for the Howard County Health Department, said a health inspector declared the restaurant unfit for operation following the fire.

De Hernandez said the health department does not have a timetable for when the restaurant may reopen.

Damage estimates from the fire are not yet known.
