Long Reach center long overdue to be revitalized [Letter]

I am a resident of Howard County living in Gateway Overlook on the border of Columbia and Elkridge.  I pay Columbia Association dues, my three children are on track to attend Long Reach High School, and we attend Celebration Church of Columbia.

We have been quite disappointed in the condition of Long Reach Village and strongly believe that it is long overdue to be redeveloped.  Not only it somewhat of an "eyesore" with less than desirable businesses, despite the community police office there, I am concerned for the safety of myself and family when we are in that area.

I am in favor of the county's plan to renovate the Long Reach Village Center, as I believe revitalizing our village center will make our community a better, safer place to live and shop.
