I live in Columbia, across from the Merriweather Post Pavilion entry off South Entrance Road, and am appalled that increasing the concert decibel levels is even being considered!
The Pavilion is not out in the country; it's in the middle of Town Center. Hundreds of people live in the apartment complex run by Gables and are directly affected by the noise generated by concerts from spring to late fall, sometimes for up to 10 hours a day.
This past season was actually better than most for concert sounds, but now we're talking about returning to times when our windows actually rattled from deep bass sounds? Yes, our windows were closed and the a/c on.
How loud must music be played for concert goers; are they all suffering hearing losses from previous events?
Please do not exempt Merriweather Post from noise regulations, increase its decibel rate or let its musicians play louder for longer. You are likely not a neighbor to the pavilion; we are and wish to continue enjoy living here.
