The Washington Nationals agreed to a trade sending Atholton High School graduate Steve Lombardozzi to the Detroit Tigers for pitcher Doug Fister on Monday evening. The Tigers also received left-hander Ian Krol and minor leaguer Robbie Ray in the deal. 

In his three years in Washington, the former Raider hit .264 in 755 plate appearances. He tallied 32 doubles, five home runs and 50 RBIs in his major league career.

Lombardozzi graduated from Atholton in 2007. That year, that standout shortstop hit .460 with nine doubles, five triples and two home runs. He was named a first-team all-county selection in three of his four years in high school, earning Howard County Times Player of the Year honors in 2006.

After a year in at St. Petersburg College (Florida), Lombardozzi was chosen in the 19th round of the 2008 Major League Baseball amateur draft.
