Football

The Ellicott City Patriots are looking for players and coaches for the spring football season that run from March-June (8 weeks). This is an indoor 8-on-8 football league that has age groups for 12U, 11U, 10U and 9U. These are one-hour games. Soccer

Soccer Association of Columbia is now registering players for the spring season, scheduled to begin the weekend of April 4. The league is open to players from ages 7-18. Teams meet for eight weeks for practices and weekend games. A clinic league for players ages 4 to 6 focusing on basic skills and teamwork is also available on Saturday mornings. The SAC Juniors Program is a fun-filled introduction to soccer, featuring six, one-hour weekday or weekend sessions for ages 3-4 throughout the year in Howard County. Go to sackick.com to register.

The SAC Girls U10 Premier White travel team is looking for one or two players. Interested parties should call 410-982-3511 or email maglars@yahoo.com for more information. Supplemental tryouts are scheduled for Jan. 28.

The SAC United Premier White U13 Girls team ('00-'01) is looking to add a goalkeeper to its roster. The team will be participating in the Region I Colonial League, Maryland State Cup and travel tournaments this spring. Email mbonner@umd.edu if interested in a tryout.

Baseball

HCYP is now accepting registrations for the spring baseball and softball programs. For online registration, go to hcyp.org and select the "Register Now" link on the baseball or softball page.

The regular meeting of "Talkin' Baseball" will take place on Feb. 1 at 9 a.m. at Brighton Gardens, 7110 Minstrel Way in Columbia. The speaker will be Mark Hyman, who will discuss his book "Confessions of a Baseball Purist." Call 410-740-1145 for more information.

Softball
