Soccer Association of Columbia is now registering players for the spring season, scheduled to begin the weekend of April 4. The league is open to players from ages 7 to 18. Teams meet for eight weeks for practices and weekend games. A clinic league for players ages 4 to 6 focusing on basic skills and teamwork is also available on Saturday mornings. Players receive an Under Armour jersey, socks and, for ages 7 and up, shorts. Register at by March 21 to ensure placement. For more information, email

The SAC Juniors Program is a fun-filled introduction to soccer, featuring six, one-hour weekday or weekend sessions for ages 3-4 throughout the year in Howard County. Players receive an Under Armour jersey. Topics include body awareness, agility, balance and ball control. Team registrations are now being accepted for the Central Maryland Soccer Association's 17th Annual Old Line State Classic, which will take place the weekend of April 12 in Harford County. The Classic is open to all USSF youth-affiliated school, recreation and club teams located in the mid-Atlantic region, ages U8 through 18. All teams are guaranteed three games. The SAC Girls U10 Premier White travel team is looking for one or two players. Interested parties should call 410-982-3511 or email for more information. Supplemental tryouts are tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 28.

The Chelsea Lions of the Travel Laurel Soccer Club are looking for two exceptional U-12 or U-13 players to join a U-13 boys team. The Lions train in Columbia and are the defending BBSL Blue Division champions. Email if interested.

The SAC United Premier White U13 Girls team ('00-'01) is looking to add a goalkeeper to its roster. The team will be participating in the Region I Colonial League, Maryland State Cup and travel tournaments this spring. Email if interested in a tryout.

The Western Howard County Fever girls fast pitch travel softball program will be holding tryouts for a new 16U "B" level team for the 2014 season. Players must have been 16 years old or younger on Dec. 31, 2013, to be eligible to try out.
