Rec sports: Ramsey earns gymnastics all-around title at Sweetheart Invitational

Gymnastics

Maria Ramsey, an Oakland Mills Middle School eighth grader, competed at the 2014 Sweetheart Invitational at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC on Feb. 15.

Ramsey is a Level 9 gymnast who trains at Docksiders Gymnastics in Millersville. She placed first on Vault (9.425), first on Balance Beam (9.575), first on Floor (9.15), and second on Uneven Bars (8.7).

Ramsey was crowned All-Around Champion in the 14-year-old age group (36.85), earning her fourth consecutive first place all-around title this season.

The women's gymnastics teams of Top Flight Gymnastics, between the levels of 3-7, competed the weekend of Feb. 8-9 at Baltimore County Gymnastics' Valentine Invitational. Results are as follows:

Level 3 (Group D): First Place Team: Hannah Barwinski: 1. Vault (9.325), 1. Bars (9.55), 2. Beam (9.275), 1. Floor (9.25), 1. All-Around (37.4).

Group E: Jenna Grove: 2. Bars (9.4), 3. Floor (9.15), 2. All-Around (36.55); Elle Kristo: 1. Vault (9.25).

Group F: CeCelia Gover: 1. Vault (9.35), 2. Bars (9.35), 1. Beam (9.2), 1. Floor (9.4), 1. All-Around (37.3); Gwyneth Holzman: 2. Vault (9.275), 1. Bars (9.425), 3. All-Around (36.05).

Level 4: First Place Team: Jaycee Cox: 2. Floor (9.25); Mia Oh: 1. Vault (9.3), 2. Bars (9.3), 3. Beam (9.275), 2. Floor (9.3), 1. All-Around (37.175); Kira Oh: 1. Beam (9.6), 2. Floor (9.15), 2. All-Around (35.8)

Level 5 (Child A): Second Place Team: Rhisen Davis: 1. Vault (9.65), 3. Floor (9.1), 3. All-Around (36.375); Lacie Pierce: 3. Vault (9.15), 2. Bars (9.5).

Child B: Julia Heiner: 1. Vault (9.3), 3. Bars (9.1), 1. Floor (9.25), 3. All-Around (36.250).

Level 7 (All ages): Second Place Team: Shelby Lechner: 2. Beam (8.6); Hannah Miller: 1. Floor (9.3); Mandie Pierce: 3. Bars (8.55), 3. All-Around (34.55).

Level 9 gymnast, Olivia Island, competed at the East Coast Classic hosted by Fairland Gymnastics.

She received second place on vault with a score of 9.35.
