Oakland Mills, Marriotts Ridge pick up boys soccer victories

Heading into a big late-season showdown later this week, Marriotts Ridge and Oakland Mills each picked up lopsided victories on Tuesday.

The Mustangs handled Howard, 5-1, while the Scorpions shut out Hammond, 3-0. The two teams, who are both in Section I of the Class 2A South region for this year’s playoffs, will play one another on Thursday at Oakland Mills on senior night for the Scorpions.

Marriotts Ridge’s elite scoring duo of Amir Najib and Jeff Kammerer continued their dominance Tuesday evening, scoring two goals apiece against the Lions. The two of them have now each scored 17 goals, to go along with eight assists, this fall.

Sam Deitemyer accounted for the other Mustang goal, while Howard’s score came from Owen Gerus.

Oakland Mills’ got two goals from Hans Kouame and one from Hymad N’diaye in its victory over Hammond.
