Harper's Choice names new village manager

The village of Harper's Choice named a replacement Wednesday for retiring village manager Wendy Tzuker, who has spent 27 years in the position.

Steve Ingley, a Columbia Town Center resident who serves as the executive director of the nonprofit, Airborne Law Enforcement Association, will take over for Tzuker on March 20.

“I am greatly looking forward to being able to contribute to the place that my family and I call home –  Columbia, Maryland,” Ingley said in a news release.

“I want to thank the (Harper's Choice Community Association) Board of Directors for placing  their confidence in me and I look forward to working with them; I want to thank Wendy for her lengthy and professional service to the association and community and for all of her assistance during this transition; and I want to thank the staff of HCCA for their continued dedication to this community and for welcoming me as I take on this new role in my nonprofit career.”

According to the release, Ingley has 27 years of nonprofit experience, the last 23 of which were spent as an executive director with ALEA and the American Jail Association.

“We are very pleased that Steve is coming on board and are looking forward to working with him to forward the goals of our community,” said Stephen Cook, chair of the village board, in the release.

Cook also expressed the board and village's thanks to Tzuker.

“On behalf of the HCCA Board of Directors, residents, and businesses, I want to express my gratitude to Wendy for her long, dedicated and loyal service to all of us in Harper’s Choice and we wish her a happy, healthy and well deserved retirement,” he said in the release.

Tzuker said: "It has been an honor to serve the residents of Harper’s Choice and Columbia. I will miss all the residents who have enriched not only my life, but the life of the entire community.”
