Volunteer Center holds info session for vets, military families

The Volunteer Center Serving Howard County is holding a volunteer engagement event geared toward veterans and military families Wednesday, July 24 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Columbia.

The event, "Words into Action: Spotlight on Veterans," will be held at the Neighbor Ride offices at 5570 Sterrett Place. Neighbor Ride, La Casa De Sweets and vCaring are community partners with the Volunteer Center, which acts as a clearinghouse recruiting potential volunteers and referring them to various local non-profit and government organizations.

The event will feature speakers and organizations who engage veterans and civilians as volunteers. Featured organizations include Team Rubicon, the 6th Branch, Operation Military Kids and Fort Meade's Army Community Services.

The center is asking interested residents to register in advance. For more information or to register, visit volunteerhoward.org or call 410-715-3172.
