The annual shutdown of the Columbia Association’s Columbia Athletic Club has been extended through Sunday, Aug. 17, the organization announced.

The facility, which is located at 5435 Beaverkill Road across from the Harper’s Choice Village Center, closed on Aug. 3 and is expected to reopen Aug. 18 at 5:15 a.m.

According to a news release, every year CA closes its facilities for cleaning, renovations and upgrades. This year, there are two major projects that are being completed at Columbia Athletic Club: duct and HVAC work in the ceiling above the main level, and repairs to leaks in the shower area of the women’s locker room.

According to the news release, the additional week is necessary for the work and cleanup to be completed.

During shutdowns, affected facility-only members are welcome to use CA’s other fitness facilities.

Columbia Gym already completed its annual shutdown and reopened in June. The facility will remain open during renovations to its front entrance that are scheduled to begin on Monday, Aug. 25 and continue through Sunday, Sept. 21. During these renovations, members and guests must access the club through the side doors facing River Hill Village Center.

Supreme Sports Club’s shutdown will begin at midnight on Monday, Aug. 18 and continue through Sunday, Aug. 24. The facility will reopen at 5 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 25. During Supreme’s shutdown, Columbia Gym will be open 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Columbia Gym is located at 6151 Daylong Lane in River Hill.

The pool at Supreme Sports Club will be closed for replastering from Friday, Aug. 15 through Monday, Aug. 25. And the Supreme Sports Club Arena, which is having its entire floor replaced, will close on Monday, Aug. 18 and is expected to reopen in early October.
