Cynthia Coyle, a longtime Columbia Association board member from Harper's Choice, did not file for re-election to the board, according to Harper's Choice Village Manager Wendy Tzuker.

"I would like to think that I have contributed something to this great community, but nothing is ever done in isolation and it is only through the tremendous support of others that many things were accomplished," Coyle said in an email to residents.

Coyle, who was first elected to the board in 2006, joined fellow longtime board member Alex Hekimian, from Oakland Mills, who announced last week he would not run for re-election.

Vying for the two-year term on the board are Robert Fontaine, who lost to Coyle during the 2012 election; and Alan Klein, an activist who often speaks on behalf of the Coalition for Columbia's Downtown.

It was also announced this week that there would be a contested race for the CA board seat in Hickory Ridge. Incumbent Gregg Schwind, who serves a pivotal role as CA board representative on the Inner Arbor Trust, has filed for re-election to a one-year term. According to Hickory Ridge Village Manager Jessamine Duvall, Schwind will run against Harry Schwarz.

In Wilde Lake, incumbent Nancy McCord, who was elected to her first term last year, is running uncontested for a one-year term.

Harper's Choice and Hickory Ridge join Town Center in the field of contested CA board seats. In Town Center, incumbent Suzanne Waller is facing off against Jeanne Ketley, treasurer of the Maryland Homeowner's Association, for a two-year term on the board.

The only CA board race that has not been announced is Owen Brown, which is represented by board chair Andy Stack. The deadline for the Owen Brown filings is March 21.
