Five charged in drug distribution inside Columbia apartment

Five people were arrested by Howard County police on Friday in connection to reported drug distribution in an apartment along the 11900 block of Little Patuxent Parkway in Columbia.

Jaron Lamar Rhodes, 23, of Columbia; Jermaine Anthony Wellman, 19, of Annapolis; and Tyon Damian Bailey, 22, of Baltimore were charged with drug possession with the intent to distribute and firearm possession. Two male juveniles, 16 and 17, of Annapolis, are also facing drug and firearm charges.

The arrest comes after police received community complaints last month regarding drugs inside Rhodes' apartment. After investigating, police said they served a search warrant for the apartment on March 3 and arrested the five individuals, who were inside the apartment at the time.

In their search of the apartment, detectives found approximately three and a half ounces each of heroin and crack cocaine as well as smaller quantities of marijuana, Oxycontin and paraphernalia, with total street value of the drugs estimated at $13,000. Two handguns and more than $2,800 in cash were also found.

Police said Rhodes and Wellman are currently being held without bond, while Bailey was released on bond. Both juveniles were released to their parents. To report any information about drug activity, call 410-290-DRUG.
