Approximately 200 community members turned out to Wilde Lake Park over the weekend to plant 200 trees as part of a project put on by the Columbia Association and the Howard County Watershed Stewards Academy.

The event, which was a capstone project for Wilde Lake resident and academy student Rhoda Toback, was a hit, as all the trees were planted with an hour of the event beginning.

"The energy and response of everyone was beyond amazing," Toback said.

The trees, which are dogwood, locust, oak, poplar, sweet gum and wild cherry, were provided by CA through a grant from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.

According to CA's Watershed Manager John McCoy, the trees will provide an environmental boost by controlling runoff into the lake.
