Police report airbags are taken in 16 car break-ins in Columbia

Howard County police reported Friday a series of 16 car break-ins overnight on March 25 where airbags were stolen. 

According to police, the break-ins occurred at three different locations between Tuesday and Wednesday. The breakdown follows:

  • 8800 block of Shining Oceans Way - Between 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and 7:58 a.m. Wednesday. Four cars broken into.
  • 5900 block of Tamar Drive - Between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday. Six cars broken into.
  • 4900, 5000 and 5600 blocks of Columbia Road and the 5600 block of April Journey Road. No time frame available. Six cars broken into.

Police said 14 cars were broken into by smashing the window, and two were entered through unlocked doors. Police said in all but one instance, airbags were the only items stolen. 

Police are investigating if the incidents are related.
