The Mall in Columbia’s new wing will see its first business open Friday, Nov. 1.
Soma Intimates, a lingerie, lounge wear and beauty products retailer, will open its doors at 5 p.m. Friday. It's the first of the 15 to 20 stores and restaurants set to open in the new 40,000-square-foot space where outdoor equipment and clothing store L.L. Bean used to sit.
L.L. Bean closed its doors in May.
The wing is part of a phased project to redevelop the space into an “open-air lifestyle center and streetscape,” incorporating two rows of restaurant and retail into a courtyard space with a walkway leading to a new mall entrance.
According to Greg Harris, a spokesperson for the mall, artisan oil and vinegar shop Secolari will be the next shop to open, towards the end of November. Other retailers and restaurants, including Seasons 52, Arhaus furniture store and Zoës Kitchen, will be open by early spring 2014.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
