Fire and Rescue crew helps deliver baby in Columbia home

A crew from the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services helped deliver a baby inside a Columbia home early on Election Day morning.

According to a news release, Columbia residents Brittany and Joseph Duperre called HCDFRS at 3 a.m. on Tuesday morning, after they realized the baby was coming.

Paramedics and firefighters arrived in time to cut the umbilical cord and transport Brittany and baby Adrienne to the hospital.

Officials say both Adrienne, weighing 7 pounds 1 ounce, and Brittany are doing well.

The members of the crew responding to the scene are Lieutenant Danny Dushanko, Firefighter/Paramedics Chris Harvey and Chris Brown; Firefighters Bart Albrecht, and Brandon Thibeault.
