Elderly man involved in Jan. 11 Jessup crash dies

An elderly man involved in a Jan. 11 car accident near the intersection of Dorsey Run Road and Route 175 in Jessup died this week as a result of his injuries, Howard County Police said Thursday.

Charles Dorn, 86, of Linthicum, died on Jan. 22, police said.

Dorn was a passenger in a Ford Focus being driven by his daughter, Catherine Dorn, 54, also of Linthicum, when the car was struck by a Ford F150 pickup truck as it attempted to make a left turn on to Route 175 at about 3 p.m. Jan. 11.

Police believe the Focus pulled into the path of the truck, which was heading westbound on Route 175.

Charles Dorn was taken by ambulance to Shock Trauma after the incident, although police said his injuries did not initially appear life-threatening.

Catherine Dorn was taken to Howard County General Hospital, where she was treated and released.

The driver of the pickup, Michael Reinke, 36, of Woodbine, was uninjured, police said.

Police said no charges have been filed, but the investigation is ongoing.
