Construction of a new clubhouse at Hobbit's Glen Golf Club in Harper's Choice has been delayed a month, according to Columbia Association President Phil Nelson.
The demolition of the old clubhouse, which was scheduled to begin in October, has been moved back to November, with the opening of the club house scheduled for November 2014.
"There have been delays in the project due to the architect not keeping up to speed with release of design data that is essential for developing the overall site plan," Nelson wrote in a memo to the CA Board of Directors.
The demolition will make way for a new $6 million 11,000-square foot clubhouse, which will include outdoor patio seating, an enhanced 150-seat indoor dining space and a tented lawn space, which would be used for special events like weddings.
It also will include an expanded pro shop and men's and women's locker rooms.
Construction of a $250,000 turn house between the ninth and 10th holes will begin at the same time as the clubhouse construction. The turn house, which will have restrooms and snacks for golfers, is expected to be ready for the 2014 golf season.
The Coho Grill, which is housed in the clubhouse, will be closed during construction, while the golf course will remain open.
