Wetland project in Columbia to begin next week

Work on a year-long wetland mitigation project near Leaf Trader Way and Ring Dove Lane in Columbia is scheduled to begin next Monday, according to a government news release.

The project, which is expected to be complete in April of 2014, is not expected to effect vehicle traffic, according to the release.

According to the release, the project will install approved erosion and sediment control measures, and removal of invasive species within the proposed work area.

A 560-foot segment of the former roadbed will be excavated, removed, and graded, the release stated, and new plantings will replace the invasive species.

Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late April 2014, according to the release.
